Pablo Picasso
'Mort d'Orphée', 1931, from the series of etchings made by Picasso for the Metamorphoses by Ovid. With the help of Jacqueline Apollinaire and on the advice of Pierre Matisse, Albert Skira issued Pablo Picasso to illustrate Ovid’s Metamorphoses with 30 etchings. These etchings were printed again in 1971 in limited quantities, this is nr. 1226. (a copy of the print nr. and print run information will be added)
This lithograph shows the story of Orpheus who was a prominent figure in Greek mythology. It depicts the lesser known part of the story, where Orpheus is killed by dancing maenads.
This is lithograph printed on heavy white Vergé-paper.
The lithograph is in great condition.
