Description from the seller
S.T. Dupont Maki-e Lighter
This Line 2 lighter is a true work of art, made using the centuries-old Japanese Maki-e technique: each piece is meticulously handcrafted by skilled artisans who apply precious gold and silver powder to bring the images to life with an unmatched elegance and depth.
To achieve this result, an artisan spends about 12 hours creating each design on the lighter.
The artisans apply multiple layers of gold powder in different sizes, thus creating very intricate designs. By adjusting the concentration and the different textures of the gold powder, they achieve a wide range of striking effects, bringing to life unique details.
Each piece of the Maki-e collection is meticulously handmade by skilled artisans, using precious materials such as mother-of-pearl, gold powder, and silver powder, making this collection truly unique in its kind.
Due to the complex artisanal craftsmanship, the production process takes a long time.
The Japanese artisans who create the decorations can produce only 30 pieces every two months, highlighting the rarity and exclusivity of this collection.
