AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Beautiful original carborundum engraving by the French artist Bernard Alligand,

Carborundum engraving

Format: 76 × 56 cm
Signed and numbered 52/60 by the artist
Very good condition

Large-format abstract work, rich in textures and materials, with soft tones blending ochre, blue, gray and pink

Carborundum (silicon carbide) is an abrasive powder applied to a metal plate with glue, creating a grainy and irregular surface. Inked and then run through a press, it produces prints with unique textures, velvety and deep, impossible to obtain with other processes. Each impression is slightly different — which makes it an original work in its own right, and not a reproduction.

Bernard Alligand is a renowned French printmaker, specializing in contemporary printmaking. His work, rooted in abstraction, is distinguished by an exceptional mastery of material and color. His engravings are held in numerous public and private collections. He is represented by several galleries specializing in France.
