Description from the seller
THE YELLOW TABLECLOTH is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work transforms a seemingly simple domestic scene into a vibrant, almost theatrical composition, where color takes center stage. A round table covered by a luminous yellow cloth occupies the center of the image as if it were a small ordinary stage on which humble objects rest: a coffee maker, a cup, some fruit, a plate with sweets, a letter. Yet nothing here feels banal; everything is arranged with a serene, carefully ornamental intention.
The most seductive aspect of the painting is precisely that ability to turn an indoor corner into a presence full of life without human figures. The empty chair in the foreground suggests an immediate absence: someone was here, someone is about to sit, or someone has just stood up. That simple insinuation introduces a silent narrative that makes the scene intimate and close. It is not a pure still life, but an interior inhabited by the trace of the everyday.
The yellow cloth visually dominates the composition with a warm, expansive energy. Its large round surface functions almost like an inner sun that lights the objects and balances the verticality of the red stripes in the background. In front of that intense yellow, the green door on the left adds depth and freshness, while the blue of the floor anchors the scene with a very modern contrast. Everything is reduced to bold color planes, clean, decisive, of enormous decorative force.
The objects on the table are simplified with a nearly naive language, but precisely for that reason they acquire a special charm. The white coffee maker, the vase with orange flowers, the small china, and the red note seem like pieces of a still life organized with emotional balance rather than realism. Each element is there not for descriptive detail, but for visual balance and mood suggestion.
