Description from the seller
BRASIL is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work immediately conveys a sense of tropical luxury, suspended calm, and summery sophistication. A woman sits facing the sea, sheltered under a large yellow-and-black striped parasol, silently contemplating the horizon as on the table rest exuberant fruits, a served glass, and small details of a paused breakfast. Everything in the scene suggests pleasure, rest, and an almost cinematic elegance.
The protagonist is depicted with a very studied distance. She does not look at the viewer, but remains immersed in her own moment, hands interlaced under the face and dark sunglasses concealing any explicit emotion. That lack of visible expression makes her an enigmatic, refined, almost unattainable figure. More than a concrete woman, she seems to embody an attitude: that of summer understood as contemplation and slow time. The environment is constructed as an artificially perfect paradise. The palm trees, the serene sea, the lush vegetation and the pinkish sand form a tropical postcard of great visual impact, but far from the conventional. There is no noise or human movement here: only a carefully ordered atmosphere, where every element contributes to that idea of an exclusive, quiet retreat.
The large parasol dominates the top of the canvas and provides extraordinary graphic force. Its black and yellow stripes not only introduce a very potent decorative contrast, but reinforce the air of a private club, elegant resort, or hotel terrace from another era. Under it, the white table with sliced fruit — papaya, citrus, peaches — and cold drinks adds chromatic sensuality and a note of hedonistic abundance. Color is, once again, the true builder of emotion. The turquoise of the sky and water conveys freshness; the pinks of the ground introduce an exotic warmth; the deep greens of the plants embrace the scene; and the orange-yellow of the parasol and the fruit fills the work with sun. Everything vibrates with luminous intensity yet without losing serenity.
“Brasil” is not only a tropical view: it is a fantasy of elegant rest. A painting that speaks of the pleasure of doing nothing, the discreet glamour of a morning by the sea, and that moment when time seems to stand still between fresh fruit, shade, and the blue horizon. It has sophistication, mystery, and an irresistible atmosphere of eternal vacations.
