In this horizontal composition, Dacruz deploys a central animal figure, treated as a totemic motif. The peacock, symbol of gaze and vigilance, is here surrounded by a multitude of eyes that rhythm the surface and create an almost hypnotic dynamic. True to his visual vocabulary, the artist builds the whole around a structuring black line, within which are blocks of vivid colors and repeated motifs. The work draws on references that blend popular iconographies and tribal influences. About the artist
Dacruz is a French artist based in Paris, deeply rooted in the 19th arrondissement where he lives and works. Active since the late 1990s, he develops a universe immediately recognizable, populated by hybrid figures and creatures inspired by popular imagination, tattoo, and blended cultural references, nourished by his travels in South America in particular. His work first unfolds in the street, on the walls of Paris and internationally, where he creates vivid murals built around a strong black line. A fixture of the Paris scene, he is part of a generation of artists who have managed to connect graffiti, street art and muralism. Dacruz is aligned with the street art movement alongside artists such as Vhils, Invader, Shepard Fairey, JonOne, Kaws, Futura.
