Description from the seller

SPACE is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado that transports the viewer to the vastest territory of all: the realm of imagination and the longing for the unknown.

A solitary astronaut contemplates the horizon from a lunar surface while suspended planets and a huge red sun create a silent, almost hypnotic atmosphere. The scene does not represent a scientific mission, but a visual metaphor of the human being confronted with the infinite.

The word “SPACE,” contundent and monumental, acts as a conceptual doorway to a work that speaks of distance, discovery, isolation, and also hope. Because in that figure with its back turned there is not fear, but fascination before everything that remains to be explored.

The limited palette of black, white, red, and blue intensifies the drama and connects the painting with old futuristic posters and the retro aesthetics of the space race, reinterpreted here with the graphic language of pop art.

SPACE is a work about human curiosity: that constant need to look beyond the visible border and wonder what exists after.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
