Description from the seller

Otto GAMPERT
(1842-1924)

Landscape

Pencil drawing on paper
Signed bottom left: « O. Gampert »

Dimensions: 29 × 43 cm (work)
Dimensions: 50 × 62 cm (with frame)

Otto Gampert is a Swiss artist active at the end of the 19th century and the beginning of the 20th century, known mainly for his landscapes and plein-air drawings. His work belongs to the European naturalistic tradition, with particular attention to the study of light and atmosphere.

His works, often executed in pencil or with light techniques, are distinguished by a sensitive rendering of the landscape and a great mastery of the stroke, capable of accurately translating both the details of vegetation and the variations of the weather. His oeuvre reflects an interest in rural life and in a poetic vision of nature, typical of the Swiss artistic culture of the period.

The present drawing depicts a rural landscape with houses immersed in greenery, created through a balanced composition and a refined use of shading. The sky, particularly elaborate, animates the scene and creates an effective contrast with the calm foreground.

Mounted under a passe-partout and framed.
Back of the work bears the framer’s stamp: « Boutique du Cadre, Nyon ».

Good overall condition.

Shipping
The work will be packed with the utmost care using professional materials. However, postal shipment is not the most suitable method for artworks and we cannot guarantee the absence of damage, especially for works on paper and with a frame. Upon request it is possible to obtain a quote from professional specialized shippers. International shipments may involve longer times and possible customs duties. In-store pickup in Geneva is always recommended. If the package is returned, the costs will be borne by the buyer. Combined shipments possible.
