Description from the seller

PAELLA is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado that celebrates one of the great symbols of Mediterranean culture through a vibrant, graphic, and deeply contemporary aesthetic.

The work turns the traditional dish into an authentic iconic image. The intense yellows of the rice, the bright red of the seafood, and the ceramic blues of the background build a luminous composition that immediately evokes summer, the sea, and shared cooking.

More than a gastronomic representation, the painting functions as a visual homage to the Mediterranean experience: long gatherings, food at the center of the table, sun, conversation, and everyday celebration. Flavia Delgado thus transforms a culinary element into an emotionally charged scene of cultural identity.

The reference to traditional Spanish tiles gives a strong local character, while the graphic treatment of the shapes brings the work closer to the language of vintage posters and international pop art. The artist perfectly balances tradition and modernity, creating an image that feels both familiar and fresh at the same time.

PAELLA also has a deliberately advertising-like energy: clean colors, strong contrast, and a direct composition that makes the work function almost like a tourism poster reinvented from contemporary art.

A warm, cheerful piece full of visual flavor, where gastronomy becomes memory, culture, and color.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
