Description from the seller

MIAMI is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado that captures the luminous, elegant, and vibrant imagination of the American coast through a retro pop aesthetic full of color and attitude.

The scene features three women resting on a boat in front of the city skyline, surrounded by palm trees, turquoise water, and an atmosphere of eternal summer. The composition conveys an immediate sense of freedom, carefree luxury, and Mediterranean glamour reinterpreted from the visual universe of Miami Beach.

Inspired by vintage travel posters and mid-20th-century advertising graphics, the work uses saturated colors, defined black lines, and strong contrasts to build a powerful, cinematic image. The bright blue of the sea and sky dialogues with the reds and yellows of the dresses, generating a dynamic and highly decorative composition.

Beyond the vacation scene, the painting speaks of desire, escapism, and contemporary fantasy. The protagonists seem suspended in a perfect moment, detached from time and any everyday concerns. The city appears in the background as a symbol of promise, fun, and excess.

Flavia Delgado thus transforms the tropical landscape into an iconic, stylized image where vintage nostalgia and contemporary sensitivity coexist. The work recalls the great classic travel posters, but reinterpreted through a current and sophisticated language.

MIAMI is a visual celebration of summer, friendship, and pop aesthetics, conceived as a luminous and magnetic image capable of turning any space into a scene full of energy and color.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
