Description from the seller

KARAOKE is a 70 x 100 cm painting by Flavia Delgado that turns a classic microphone into a symbol of music, expression, and collective celebration.

The composition is built around a large vintage microphone placed at the center of the scene, lit as if it were on a stage. The graphic flashes surrounding it convey sonic energy and turn the image into a visual representation of rhythm, voice, and shared emotion.

Inspired by the aesthetics of old musical posters, retro graphic design, and the Pop Art universe, the work uses strong contrasts and a reduced but powerful palette, where red, black, and deep blue predominate. Clean shapes and bold black lines give it a strong, highly decorative visual presence.

Beyond the direct reference to karaoke, the painting speaks of freedom, fun, and the desire for human connection. The microphone appears as a symbolic object capable of turning anyone into the protagonist for a few minutes. The work captures that mix of vulnerability and euphoria that arises when singing in front of others.

Flavia Delgado thus transforms a everyday element of nightlife entertainment into an iconic and almost cinematic image. The result blends vintage nostalgia and contemporary sensibility within a dynamic and direct composition.

KARAOKE is a vibrant and energetic piece where music, popular culture, and graphic design come together to create a work full of character, rhythm, and stage presence.

Seller's Story

I present a pictorial work line strongly linked to illustration and artistic poster design. My works combine the language of classic poster art with the plastic freedom of contemporary painting: flat colors, defined contours, direct scenes, and a clear narrative sense. My work dialogues with the tradition of 20th-century poster art, especially with the universe of Art Deco and European and North American advertising posters, where authors like A. M.. Cassandre, Henri de Toulouse-Lautrec, and Leonetto Cappiello used synthetic imagery and color for visual impact. There are also affinities with European comic graphics and the clear line, from Hergé to modern editorial illustration. In my paintings, I depict interiors, architectures, figures, and travel scenes—such as roads, vintage cars, or landscapes—approached from a graphic perspective reminiscent of posters and illustrated books, but transferred to the realm of painting on paper and canvas. I aim for each image to function like a frame or a narrative poster, capable of suggesting a broader story without needing to explain it.
