Description from the seller

Elisabeth Brainos is a multidisciplinary artist born in Colombia. She has lived in France since her youth, where she continues to work today.

After studies in a literature faculty in Aix-en-Provence, where she mingled with various artist workshops in the south of France, Elisabeth set out into a theatrical practice. Eventually she decides to turn toward a professional artistic practice spanning painting and sculpture.

Elisabeth's inspirations are numerous, ranging from modern Russia to Ancient Greece; she particularly appreciates the work of Marc Chagall. Elisabeth's works always sit at the crossroads between dream and reality, arising from her conception of the world and from an imagined world she fabricates.

Elisabeth Brainos's bronze sculptures play with transparency and color; they are masterful works.
This oil on canvas from the 1980s, nude as she is emerging from the bath, is, by its format and its theme, among the best paintings by Elisabeth Brainos.
