Klaus Staeck, born in Pulsnitz in 1938, is a German lawyer, publisher, and graphic designer renowned for his sharp political poster art and satire.
He grew up in Bitterfeld before moving to Heidelberg, where he studied law and later established his own publishing house, Edition Staeck. He has been a member of the SPD since 1960.
Staeck became famous for his provocative, socially critical posters, which often led to legal disputes—he won over 40 court cases defending his artistic freedom. His work has been widely exhibited, including four times at the documenta. From 2006 to 2015, he served as the President of the Akademie der Künste in Berlin.
