Carlo Trevisan (XX) - Muu

The painting captures the head of a dappled cow in a sculptural pose, set against the now-iconic, clear horizon that defines Trevisan's metaphysical universe.
The real protagonist of the painting is the small earring with a blue pearl that adorns the cow's ear. This anthropomorphic detail transforms the animal into a countryside gentlewoman, recalling the refined irony already seen in Trevisan's other works.
The deep black of the shading creates a powerful graphic contrast with the pure white of the snout and the blue of the background. The application of color is so clean that the figure almost seems cut out from the light.
A solitary, slender, and vibrant cloud floats beside the animal's profile. It is the artist's distinctive mark, pulling the subject from the real pasture to project it into a dreamlike, silent dimension.
Trevisan proves once again how the oil-on-canvas technique can be used to ennoble the ordinary. The softness of the rosy nose and the depth of the dark eye confer upon the animal a dignity and a 'presence' that invite respect and tenderness.
