Description from the seller
Very beautiful expressionist work by Jordaens.
Leo Jordaens is a Belgian artist born in 1944 in Merksem and who died in 2000 in Antwerp. He was a painter. Son and pupil of Leon Jordaens; he later developed self-taught. He painted, among other things, landscapes, seaside scenes with boats, seascapes, still lifes with flowers. His works are characterized by expressive masses of clouds and a striking play of light and color. From the press: ‘L.J. is a born colorist. He loves cadmiums, but works only in about three tones – for example red, yellow, and blue – that completely build the painting (…) In his work nature, the open space lives. He has eliminated people. You see crops, trees (especially pollarded willows), haycocks, reflecting, ships, a bend in the river, the city skyline, the activity in the harbor, industry and the winter atmosphere pass before your eyes. (1978) He worked in Deurne. Mentioned in Two Centuries of Signatures of Belgian Artists. (Piron)
