Stadsgezicht, an oil painting by J. Brouwer (XX) from the 1980s, Netherlands, sold with frame.
Description from the seller
This painting depicts an atmospheric urban scene along a calm canal, presumably in Amsterdam. On the left, a characteristic building with a warm yellow façade stands, its reflection softly playing in the water. Along the quayside lie several wooden ships and small boats moored, giving the scene a lively yet peaceful character.
In the background we see a recognizable church tower rising above the trees and buildings — probably the Westerkerk, a well-known Amsterdam monument. The bridge in the middle of the composition guides the eye further into the depth and enhances the perspective of the canal that disappears into the distance.
The trees on either side, with their soft green and brown tones, suggest late summer or early autumn, with sunlight enveloping the scene in a warm, golden glow. The sky is light blue with subtle clouds, lending the atmosphere a dreamy serenity.
Signature: bottom left
Framed dimensions: 70 x 80 cm
Dimensions without frame: 50 x 60 cm
Viewing is, of course, possible. In addition, we have our own in-house framing workshop, which is celebrating its 85th anniversary. We also work with restorers from the industry association: 'Restauratoren Nederland'. If you would like to make use of this, we would of course be happy to hear from you.
