Su Xiaobai lives between China and Germany. He has developed a body of work that is both sensual and rigorous, unclassifiable, whose preferred medium, lacquer, is deeply rooted in Chinese history. His works, both hedonistic and mystical, possess a pronounced sculptural force. Rather than depicting objects, his art questions the very idea of Being. At the heart of his approach, Su’s work uses a visual language to embody issues that are both philosophical and, on a daily human level, universal.
He is internationally recognized.
