Victor Vasarely, MetaGalaxy, a 70 × 70 cm limited edition hand-signed silkscreen from 1980, France, in excellent condition, framed.
Description from the seller
highly decorative colour serigraph by Victor Vasarely, one of the founding figures of Op Art and geometric abstraction. The composition “Metagalaxie” perfectly illustrates Vasarely’s fascination with optical illusion, spatial vibration, and kinetic movement through the use of repetitive geometric forms and striking colour contrasts. The spherical structures appear to expand outward from the surface, creating a dynamic three-dimensional visual effect characteristic of the artist’s most sought-after works.
The work is hand signed in pencil lower right and presented in an elegant modern frame. The strong yellow, pink, black, and grey tones remain exceptionally vivid, giving the piece a powerful visual presence. Vasarely’s work occupies an important place within post-war European abstraction and shares conceptual dialogues with artists such as Jesús Rafael Soto, Yaacov Agam, Bridget Riley, Julio Le Parc, Richard Anuszkiewicz, François Morellet, Carlos Cruz-Diez, Josef Albers, Sonia Delaunay, Max Bill, Günther Uecker, Heinz Mack, Otto Piene, and the ZERO movement. His influence also extends toward contemporary geometric and kinetic abstraction.
Victor Vasarely is internationally recognised as the pioneer of Op Art, with works held in major museum collections worldwide including the Centre Pompidou in Paris, the Museum of Modern Art in New York, the Tate Gallery in London, and the Vasarely Foundation in Aix-en-Provence.
Condition: Very good overall condition. Colours are fresh and intense. The sheet is hand signed in pencil. Nicely framed; the work will be shipped without glass for safety reasons during transport. Minor signs of handling and age may be present consistent with careful ownership.
