Biography
Francisco Bartus is a Spanish painter born in 1975 in Valencia. He was encouraged by his school teachers to study art, and after completing his education, he began his career as a professional designer and visual artist. In this first stage, he focused the subjects of his works on still lifes in which he applied modern language and techniques with enthusiasm accepted by galleries and the public.
Then, under the influence of Carl Jung’s ideas, he decided to switch to a new genre to show in a plastic and brilliant expression how some of our deepest feelings are partly inherited and are not shaped solely by our personal or individual experience. Bartus thus developed his own unique style to produce the impressive artworks we present here, combining powerful painting techniques with an idea of the collective humanity underlying his more recent themes.
The use of mixed media creates a 3D dimension that makes his pieces extraordinarily different. The layers of paint are impressive and add more dimension to the work; his works are innovative and unique, combining a variety of materials and techniques with new ideas to create exciting works.
Bartus has been widely exhibited in various galleries in the USA, mainly in Florida, California and New York as well as in Europe, France, Spain and recently Germany and Switzerland.
The iconic breathtaking images of Francisco Bartus bring together crowds of colorful figures who, when viewed from a distance, transform into remarkable three-dimensional representations of famous faces, landmarks, or classic pop-art tributes. His innovative use of a variety of materials and techniques, and the distinct application of texture contrast and layered applications combine with his dynamic palette to create a 3D effect that gives each composition a spectacular impact.
Francisco grew up in a house full of art and music and studied Art History at the University. He immediately chose a life in art, and his interest in mixed-media work combined with his love for abstraction, hyper-realism and, above all, pointillism led him to a completely original path. He describes the feeling of being 'hypnotized' by pointillist art and the way artists like Seurat and Signac built forms and images so beautifully simply by painting dots on the canvas. Order out of chaos and, in particular, the phenomenon of synchronized movement, as when a school of neon swims in flawless formation, or a murmuration of starlings swirling in the sky in an ever-changing, yet always perfect pattern.
Over the years, this fascination evolved into artworks that explore the nature of collectivity in an elegant and precise, yet visually striking, style. As a result, he has earned an enviable reputation as a visionary and innovative artist, and his works are now in high demand in galleries across Europe and the USA.
