Verbatim DataLife 8-inch diskettes, 30 units (three factory-sealed boxes of ten), New Old Stock manufactured in the USA in 1996.
Description from the seller
For sale: 3 sealed boxes of Verbatim DataLife 8-inch floppy diskettes.
Each box contains 10 diskettes, for a total of 30 pieces.
This is New Old Stock: old stock but fully factory sealed and unused. The boxes come from an industrial company that worked professionally with 8-inch drives for many years. The diskettes have been dry stored and never used.
Specifications:
Brand: Verbatim Corporation
Series: DataLife
Format: 8 inch / 200 mm
Quantity: 3 boxes x 10 diskettes = 30 pieces total
Condition: New Old Stock / factory sealed
Made in U.S.A.
Copyright date: 1996
European distribution version
100% Certified & Error Free by Verbatim
Type: FD1 — 1S/1D (Single-Sided, Single-Density)
Format: 26 Soft-Sector, 128 Bytes/Sec
Part number: FD34-9000
Compatible with: IBM 3740 Data Entry System, Wang, early industrial controllers
Why it’s special:
The 8-inch floppy disk was the very first floppy format and was originally introduced by IBM in the 1970s. By 1996, this format had almost entirely disappeared from the consumer market. These Verbatim DataLife 8-inch diskettes thus likely belong to one of the later production runs of this format.
This specific 1996 edition is very hard to find and appears to have been intended primarily for professional and industrial use, such as older machines, CNC systems, mainframes, medical equipment, or other legacy systems.
Suitable for:
Vintage computer collectors
Museums and technical archives
Industrial and legacy machine users
Mainframe and retro computing enthusiasts
Collectors of rare data storage media
The boxes are in excellent condition and the original sealing is still present.
A rare opportunity to acquire 30 unused, sealed Verbatim DataLife 8-inch floppy diskettes.
