Description from the seller
This work has been created without the use of Artificial Intelligence.
Rococo is an artistic staged photograph inspired by the iconic figure of Marie Antoinette, reinterpreting the opulence, excess, and hedonic spirit of the 18th century from a contemporary perspective. The piece blends historical references with a sophisticated, provocative aesthetic, transforming a symbol of aristocratic power into a theatrical and seductive image.
The elaborate period dress, the powdered wig, and the delicate laces immediately evoke the aesthetics of the French court and the ornamental refinement of Rococo. Yet the unexpected gesture of the heart-shaped candy brought to the lips breaks the solemnity of the portrait and creates a visual tension between protocol and desire, discipline and indulgence.
More than faithfully recreating a historical scene, the work reflects on the theatrics of power and its close relationship with representation and spectacle. By merging classical elements with a contemporary visual language, Rococo invites the viewer to question how concepts such as luxury, femininity, and authority are constructed and consumed.
