Description from the seller
Louis Dali (1905-2001)
Oil on canvas signed bottom left.
Beautiful harbor composition in the spirit of French maritime landscapes of the 20th century, where Louis Dali sensitively captures the misty atmosphere of a busy fishing port. The diffused light, the reflections on the water, and the knife-work texture give the whole piece a depth and a timeless charm.
Born in Brittany in 1905, Louis Dali moved to Paris at a very young age and attended art academies before exhibiting at the Salon des Artistes Indépendants and at the Salon de l’École Française. He is particularly appreciated for his views of ports, quays, and urban landscapes, imbued with an impressionist touch and a fine mastery of atmospheres.
