Description from the seller
This instrument, used in the nautical sector in onboard electrical switchboards.
It is a vintage DC milliamperometer (milliamperemeter) produced by Westinghouse Electric & Manufacturing Co., a piece of history dating back to the first half of the 20th century (between the 1920s and 1940s).
Manufacturer: Westinghouse
Founded by George Westinghouse in 1886 in Pittsburgh, the company was a major rival of Edison’s General Electric in the famous "War of Currents". While Edison advocated direct current, Westinghouse promoted the alternating current system (AC), which today powers our homes. This instrument, though it measures direct current, testifies to the wide range of precision devices produced for industry.
At that time, instruments like this were essential for monitoring the operation of complex machinery, radio transmitters, or industrial control systems. Today they are regarded as items of great value for collectors of "vintage technology" and are often restored to be displayed as pieces of industrial decor (steampunk style).
Condition is good: the moving-coil mechanism visible at the bottom is a typical example of precision engineering of the era.
The photos are an integral part of the description and complement what is stated in the listing.
I guarantee careful packaging suitable for shipping, with tracking and prompt delivery.
