Description from the seller
Title: Vase with Carnations
School: Catalan, 20th century
Author: Genís Capdevila
Style: Floral Impressionism
Technique: Oil on panel
The work represents a delicate still life of flowers composed of an abundant bouquet of carnations in red, pink, and white tones, arranged in a dark vase on a neutral surface. The composition stands out for its chromatic richness and the impasto texture of the brushstroke, especially visible in the petals, where the artist uses a dense and expressive painting material that adds volume and dynamism to the whole.
The background, treated in greenish and gray tones, envelops the scene in an intimate and serene atmosphere, allowing the flowers to emerge with visual strength. The soft lighting and the gestural freedom of the brush reveal a clear Impressionist and Post-Impressionist influence, focused on capturing light and the vibration of color rather than academic detail. The composition conveys freshness and sensitivity, habitual features in Catalan floral painting of the mid-20th century.
About the author:
Genís Capdevila was a Catalan painter active during the 20th century, known mainly for his still lifes and floral compositions. His artistic production is characterized by loose brushwork, expressive use of color, and a special sensitivity toward representing light and textures, within a line close to late Catalan Impressionism.
The work is presented in an elegant carved and gilded wooden frame, decorated with repetitive ornamental relief motifs along the perimeter. Its classic finish enhances the decorative and refined character of the floral composition.
Observations:
The work may show slight signs of aging and wear consistent with the passage of time.
The work may incur damages during transport even with proper packaging. In such a case, we will need photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by a surcharge due to reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excessive dimensions or weight of the item. PremiArt will not cover this surcharge under any circumstances.
Due to border issues with Switzerland we are obliged to inform that shipments longer than 1 meter in length or height to that destination will not be carried out.
