Giuseppe Chiari (1926-2007) studied mathematics and engineering while also pursuing piano, to become a jazz musician. From 1962 he became part of the international and interdisciplinary Fluxus group.

His works express this love of music: indeed musical instruments and sheet music are central to his collages and assemblages. Giuseppe Chiari seeks to reproduce in figurative art the spontaneous gesture of a musician playing an instrument in visual art through a doodle, prompted by the artist's hand.
