Description from the seller
BODEGÓN ASTURIANO is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work is a celebration of domestic tradition and of color understood as emotional memory. The composition gathers simple objects—a bottle of cider, a red vessel, fruits and decorated glasses—to build a vibrant scene where the everyday acquires a nearly ceremonial dimension. The work evokes the north of Spain not from literal realism, but from the warm, sentimental atmosphere of family interiors.
The cider bottle occupies the central axis of the painting and functions as a cultural and emotional symbol. More than an object, it represents encounters, sobremesas (afternoon chats after meals) and shared rituals. Beside it, the large red vessel introduces a strong chromatic contrast that adds depth and visual drama, while the tropical plants and the greenish light in the background connect the scene with a warmer, more Mediterranean imaginary.
The flowering table and the small decorative details recall the aesthetics of traditional homes, where every object has a story and an emotional presence. The hand-painted glass, the lemon resting on the tablecloth, and the reflections in the glass generate a sense of quiet intimacy, as if the scene were suspended just before a conversation or a meal shared. Formally, the work blends influences from classical still life with a contemporary graphic simplification. The forms are outlined by dark lines and strong contrasts, while the brushwork retains a spontaneous and expressive character. The saturated colors—reds, greens, yellows and turquoises—create a luminous tension that makes the scene feel more symbolic than descriptive.
There is also an interesting dialogue between tradition and modernity. Although the objects reference popular and artisanal customs, the composition has a visual cleanliness close to contemporary design and the language of posters. That mix brings freshness and makes the painting feel timeless.
“Bodegón Asturiano” transforms simple elements of daily life into a scene full of identity, warmth and character. It is a work that speaks of home, shared culture and the quiet beauty of objects that accompany daily life.
