Description from the seller
IBÉRICO Still Life is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work transforms a domestic scene into an exuberant composition where color, light, and everyday objects acquire almost theatrical intensity. The piece gathers flowers, ceramics, glass, and a bottle of wine on a striped table to build a warm and sophisticated visual universe, deeply tied to Mediterranean tradition and the imagery of European interiors of the 20th century.
The vibrant orange background envelops the whole scene in a bright, immersive atmosphere. On it, the flowers seem to expand like an organic explosion of color and movement. Roses, whites, greens, and yellows dialogue with the dark reflections of the bottle and the small glints of the glass, creating a composition rich in contrasts and visual textures.
The striped table introduces a graphic structure that orders the scene and brings rhythm. That alternation between black and white lines recalls certain languages of modern design and poster art, while the objects retain the intimate sensibility of the classical still life. The result is a balanced blend of pictorial tradition and contemporary aesthetics. Each element seems carefully chosen to suggest a complete sensory experience: the empty glass, the yellow bowl, the spoons reflecting light, and the wine bottle evoke a meal just finished or a gathering suspended in time. The scene does not represent merely objects, but a way of living tied to everyday pleasure, conversation, and the beauty of simple things.
Formally, the work uses defined contours and intense chromatic planes that recall both fauvism and certain Mediterranean decorative traditions. The brushwork maintains a free, spontaneous character that brings freshness, avoiding any excess rigidity. The painting moves constantly between the ornamental and the emotional.
“Bodegón Ibérico” is a work about visual and affective abundance. It speaks of the table as a meeting place, of flowers as a celebration of the ephemeral, and of color as an emotional vehicle. A everyday scene transformed into a vibrant, elegant, and deeply vital image.
