Description from the seller
CASA COLONIAL is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. This work portrays a bright and exuberant interior where architecture, color, and plants build a warm and deeply evocative atmosphere. The scene seems to slowly open up to the viewer through half-open doors and successive perspectives, inviting them to enter an intimate space that blends tradition, memory, and everyday life.
The composition revolves around a table covered with an intense yellow tablecloth that lights up the entire room like a small domestic sun. Around it, the curved wooden chairs and the ceramic vases create a sense of inhabited home, while tropical plants expand the scene toward an organic and vibrant universe. The interior seems to breathe with nature. The open doors generate depth and turn the house into a visual journey. Each room leads to another, creating a sense of continuity and mystery. That succession of colors — reds, greens, yellows, and turquoise — recalls Caribbean and Mediterranean colonial houses, where light constantly transforms interior spaces.
The work possesses a strong atmospheric dimension. More than merely representing a room, it captures a feeling: the warm silence of an afternoon, the air entering through the windows, time suspended in a home filled with history. The small objects on the table, the white flowers, and the reflections on the ceramics bring delicacy and balance to the chromatic intensity of the whole.
Formally, the painting combines graphic simplification and decorative richness. The dark lines structure the architectural space, while the free brushstroke keeps freshness and movement. There are echoes of Fauvism and modern decorative painting, especially in the emotional use of color and in the way daily life is turned into a nearly theatrical scene.
“Casa Colonial” speaks of home as a sensorial and emotional refuge. It is a work where architecture is not merely structure, but living memory: a space full of light, vegetation, and simple objects that convey calm, identity, and everyday beauty.
