Pancho Porto (Santiago de Compostela, 1988) began his training in the specialty of artistic cabinetmaking at the Antonio Failde center in Ourense. At this school he first came into contact with disciplines such as carving, drawing, or modeling, and, more importantly, with workshop work.
Subsequently he enrolled at the Mestre Mateo School of Arts and Trades in Santiago de Compostela, where he studied what would later become his main discipline: sculpture. It is at this school that he already worked with materials that would be fundamental in his work, such as steel or clay. Parallel, Porto continues his personal training and investigates other materials such as bronze or resins and their multiple uses and finishes, leaning toward the use of bronze and steel as the definitive materials for his works.
After this initial training phase, he decided to establish his studio on the banks of the Sarela river, very close to where he was born. It is here that he begins his particular theoretical and practical investigation into the relationship between the materials used in each work and the message they convey. This leads him to seek new proposals when communicating and narrating his story. Since then, this has been the usual tone of his works, thus adding complexity and depth to the entirety of his work, with themes that touch both the social sphere and his personal experiences.
