Reliance 1903 - Half hull ship model

'Reliance' was the first racing boat to be equipped with winches under the decks, at a time when its rivals relied on human power. Nevertheless, a crew of 64 was required for the race due to the large sail plan.
From the bow sprit to the end of its 108-foot (33 m) spar, Reliance measured 201 feet (61 m) and the tip of its mast stood 199 feet (61 m) above the water (the height of a 20-story building). Everything else was equally gargantuan; its bowsprit was 84 feet (26 m) long, and its total sail area of 1,501 square meters (16,160 square feet) was the equivalent of eight 12-metre class yachts.
Reliance was built for one purpose: to successfully defend the America's Cup.
