Description from the seller
Lithograph on Japanese paper, numbered (P.d.A.) by the Italian artist, master of the Metaphysical art movement, Giorgio De Chirico (1888-1974), entitled “Hercole,” from 1973. The work, which portrays a man of colossal size (i.e., Hercules), depicted nude, with his back turned, perched on the top of a cliff that overlooks the sea horizon, with in the background a classical temple—a characteristic element of a large part of De Chirico’s oeuvre—bears the artist’s dry stamp, the “Alberto Caprini Stampatore in Roma” dry stamp, the autograph signature, the title, and the numbering (P.d.A.), inserted in pencil by the author. The dimensions of the piece are: 65x50 cm.
Bibliography of the work:
1990 Giorgio De Chirico. Catalogo dell’opera grafica 1969-1977, edited by Edoardo Brandani, Edizioni Bora, Bologna, p. 197, no. 172.
Notes:
Overall edition of 99 copies in Arabic numerals + XX copies in Roman numerals + XX copies on China-backed paper on Japon + 21 copies signed with letters A to Z + some proofs by the artist + some hand-colored copies.
The provenance of the work, as evidenced by the certification document that will be attached to the work and viewable in the photographic gallery, refers to the auction house “Studio d’Arte Borromeo,” located in Senago (MI). The condition of the work is good; there are lateral foxings that do not in any way affect the sheet on which the work was produced. The shipment of the lithograph will be made in adequately protected packaging to prevent damage during transport. Shipping costs outside the EU will be agreed with the purchaser.
