Jan Montyn, z.t., 1973, an abstract ink etching in blue, yellow and white from a limited edition of 12 (7/12), 43 x 28 cm (etch) with a 56 x 51 cm aluminium-framed presentation, depicting a military motif and in excellent condition.
Description from the seller
Jan Montyn (born 1942, Oudewater) was a Dutch painter, graphic artist, poet, and adventurer best known for his expressive etchings and artwork shaped by his experiences in war and travel. He specialized in etching and developed a highly personal style filled with symbolic landscapes, emotional lines, and themes of conflict, spirituality, memory and freedom.
Montyn eventually reinvented himself as an artist in Amsterdam. He became internationally known for his prints, drawings and etchings (Anton Heyboer encouraged him to pursue etching and gave him his first etching press).
Works of Montyn are held in major collections, including: Museum of Modern Art, Stedelijk Museum Amsterdam, Museum Boijmans Van Beuningen and The Bibliothèque Nationale in Paris.
