Conversations and punches / 2023 Text by Javier Guijarro Fayard, curator of the exhibition. "Conversations and punches" is an investment in painting as a laboratory-style project by three artists who previously shared the Latolier studio (in Madrid’s Usera district, in the midst of artistic ferment in recent years). Founded by Baptiste Laurent, it has become a creative hub. Laurent has enjoyed this format. It is a performance-like action in which the relationship among the three artists generates dynamics that advance the works and create new challenges. We will see a mix of themes as diverse as a battlefield, Greek horses, a fight inspired by Goya, a swing in a colorful field, large butcher knives on blue Portuguese mosaics, a fish on a plate with two large arms rising from the void, or a pink canopy in the middle of a field with a mysterious female nude floating face down in the sky."
