Paul Blanca - Desire

Photo of Paul Blanca (pseudonym of Paul Vlaswinkel, NL November 11, 1958–October 14, 2021). C-print, titled Desire from 1995. Unnumbered, as is often the case with Blanca. The seller has been friends with Blanca for many years and obtained the work directly from him.

The photo depicts a portrait made with heroin. By placing heroin in the shape of a woman's face on aluminum foil and then heating it from below and smoking it, an image appears on the foil. This is a photograph of that.
