Mario Maresca Serra
Mario Maresca Serra was born on January 25, 1912 in Naples, where he resided on Viale dei Pini. He began painting as a boy and continued throughout his life. He studied under Mario Borgoni and Giuseppe Giardiello. In 1933 he held a solo exhibition in Bari, where he met with enormous public and official acclaim. In 1934 he again held a solo show in Rome, at the Angelelli Gallery, on Via del Babuino, where his works aroused the same great enthusiasm as in Bari. On that occasion His Majesty King Vittorio Emanuele III purchased a painting of his titled “Marina.” Subsequently, in 1935, ’36 and ’37 he held solo exhibitions in Calabria and Sicily. His works are part of several public and private art galleries in Italy and abroad, and in some galleries in Paris, London, and New York.
