Description from the seller
José Ramírez Tomás – Vintage hand-made classical guitar (1981)
Very special and rare vintage classical guitar from 1981, hand-made by José Ramírez Tomás. This instrument was purchased at the time in Barcelona from the father of the current owner. Although the name “Ramírez” evokes the famous Spanish guitar-building family, this is specifically an instrument by José Ramírez Tomás, a maker who used the name but did not own the official trademark rights. He owned two workshops/stores in Madrid and Barcelona under the name José Ramírez Tomás.
Based on research, this guitar cannot be identified as an original José Ramírez from the established line, but it remains a unique and fully hand-made Spanish instrument from the 1980s, with the typical construction philosophy and artisanal approach of that period. This makes it an interesting collectible with its own historical context and character.
The guitar is built with a mahogany sipo body, which yields a warm, woody tone with clear midrange and natural projection. The sound is classic Spanish, with a direct response and authentic vintage character.
