A grand master of color in the wake of Gauguin and Matisse, Guillaume Corneille creates a jovial world imbued with exotism. A travelling artist, Corneille, thanks to his friend Alan Davie, crossed paths with David Hockney on the London scene. Both erudite painters, they share the same love of color, the same taste for simplifying the line, and the same inclination to wink at the history of art of past centuries and at their own history.
