Idylle is a 2003 lithograph by Guillaume Corneille, hand-signed, artist's proof EA 12/25, 65 × 49 cm, Netherlands origin, Cobra style, edition limitée, in excellent condition, sold by Galerie.
Description from the seller
Artwork increasingly hard to find - Last available copy (then permanently out of stock)
The colors vibrate here like in a Van Gogh painting. In the 1990s, Corneille set up his studio in the middle of his garden facing wheat fields painted by Van Gogh near Auvers-sur-Oise.
Original lithograph by the painter Guillaume Corneille (1922-2010), born in Liège to Dutch parents and a founding member of the Cobra group with Karel Appel, Asger Jorn, Constant, Dotremont and later Alechinsky and Jacques Doucet
"Idylle"
Signed and dated in graphite by the artist’s own hand
Artist’s proof EA 12/25 (Guillaume Corneille sometimes mis-numbered this lithograph)
Overall dimensions: 65 x 49 cm - Very good condition - Secure shipping with UPS
The quality of the lithographic plates is such that they give the impression of seeing the brushwork right before you.
Identified as an important figure in the renewal of abstraction in Northern Europe, Corneille gradually moved from 1967 toward a rich and colorful New Figuration that aligns with the Pop Art taste of the 1960s and 1970s, and exhibited alongside Andy Warhol, Arman, César, etc.
