El Triunfo de Baco, an unsigned 17th‑century Italian Baroque oil painting on canvas mounted to board, depicting a mythological scene around Bacchus, measuring 92 by 65 cm and sold with a carved gilded frame.
Description from the seller
Title: The Triumph of Bacchus
School: Italian (17th century)
Style: Baroque
Technique: Oil on canvas mounted to panel
The composition depicts a mythological scene linked to the Bacchic procession, the god of wine and celebration, in a lush natural setting. In the center stands Bacchus, crowned with grape leaves, surrounded by satyrs, nymphs and putti in a festive and dynamic pose. The figures, with full and expressive anatomies, interact with each other in a scene of sensual and hedonistic character, typical of Italian Baroque iconography.
The lighting treatment presents marked chiaroscuro, with directed lighting that highlights bodily volumes and creates depth in the scene. The palette, dominated by earthy tones, ochres and greens, provides a warm and enveloping atmosphere. The brushwork, loose yet precise in the flesh, denotes execution typical of the Baroque tradition, with special attention to movement and theatricality of the ensemble.
A balanced composition is evident, with a visual rhythm that guides the eye through the various characters, reinforcing the mythological and festive narrative of the scene.
Condition:
The work shows restorations and slight imperfections, in keeping with its age.
The frame is carved and gilded wood, with peripheral decoration of oval relief motifs and inner mouldings with geometric friezes. It presents a classical aesthetic that adequately complements the work, adding presence and decorative character.
The frame comes as a gift. It may incur damage during transport even with proper packaging.
Dimensions: 53 x 80 cm
Dimensions with frame: 92 x 65 cm
Observations:
The work may suffer shipping damages even with proper packaging. In such a case, we will need photographs of the damages to proceed with compensation. Customer satisfaction is always our priority.
Exceptionally, shipping costs may be affected by an additional charge for reasons such as being outside a continental territory, excessive dimensions, or weight of the item. PremiArt will not cover this surcharge under any circumstances.
Due to border issues with Switzerland, we must inform you that shipments with a length or height exceeding 1 meter to that destination will not be carried out.
