Description from the seller

17th‑century Italian School. Saint Lucy in oil on panel with its original gilded wooden frame. Representation of the saint, martyr, with the palm (martyrdom) and the plate with eyes (her main attribute).
This piece, 27 x 22 cm, executed in oil on panel, is a devotional portrayal of Saint Lucy, probably belonging to the Italian school of the late 17th or early 18th century.
The iconography is unmistakable due to the tray with two eyes held by the saint and the palm of martyrdom, traditional attributes of Saint Lucy of Syracuse, patroness of sight.
The use of oil on panel in this small format (cabinet-sized) was common in Italian painting for private or domestic devotion. The style shows a transition between late Baroque and classicism, aiming for a serene and devout expression in the face.
Similar works from the Italian school of this period are often attributed to followers of masters such as Guido Reni or Giuseppe Soleri, who disseminated this devotional aesthetic throughout Europe.
