Cruzeiro Seixas — Artur Manuel Rodrigues Cruzeiro Seixas (Amadora, 1920–2020), considered the last of the Portuguese surrealists.
Screenprint on paper, surreal composition with a blue horse, a female figure and celestial elements in a dreamlike landscape.
H.C. 24/25 (Hors Commerce) — an off-market exemplar, with a very restricted edition, inscribed in the lower left corner. Hand-signed by the artist in the lower right corner.
Dimensions: 36 × 51 cm.
Cruzeiro Seixas is an indispensable figure in 20th-century Portuguese art, a pioneer of Surrealism in Portugal. His work is represented in collections of internationally renowned museums. He received a grant from the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation and was awarded the rank of Grand Officer of the Military Order of Sant'Iago da Espada.
