Artist biography Nguyen Robert 1958.
Born in 1958 in Ben Tre, an authentic village nestled in the heart of the Mekong Delta, Nguyen Robert is a Franco-Vietnamese artist whose work is distinguished by a singular fusion of Asian traditions and Western artistic influences. From a young age, he was fascinated by the rural architecture of his environment, the lines of traditional houses, the volumes of floating markets, the shadow projections of water palms — so many elements that would form the basis of his visual language.
Based in his homeland region for many years, Nguyen Robert has developed, over decades, a deeply contemporary, modern, and decisively architectural style. His paintings explore structures, lines, urban rhythms, and geometric abstraction, while retaining a poetic sensitivity inherent to Vietnamese culture.
His dual heritage, Franco-Vietnamese, enhances his approach: he borrows from the West the rigor of modern compositions and the boldness of contrasts, while his Vietnamese soul instills softness, spirituality, and fluidity into his works. The result is a painterly universe where modernity meets timelessness, where geometry dialogues with light, creating canvases of great visual power.
Recognized for his ability to transform everyday life into abstract landscapes, Nguyen Robert is now considered one of the singular voices of contemporary painting in the Mekong Delta. He continues his work in his workshop in Ben Tre, surrounded by the landscapes that shaped his identity, and continues to exhibit in several galleries across Asia and Europe, captivating collectors and art lovers seeking deeply modern, structured, and vibrant works.
