Description from the seller
Alfredo Alcain (Madrid-1936-)
Doves and Flowers
Signed copy 61 of a edition of 200
DIMENSIONS: Impression: 36 x 26 cm. Engraving: 53 x 39 cm.
Edition signed, dated and justified by the artist in pencil at the bottom of the impression of the engraving. The author himself carried out the engraving of the plate.
The print is original and limited to 200 copies. It is part of a collection of twelve copies, this being number 2, as seen on the envelope that protects it.
Noble materials have been used with traditional techniques, and Alcain has etched directly onto the plate.
It is made on Guarro 250-gram cotton paper.
The plate was made unusable after printing the 200 copies.
It bears a dry seal in the lower right corner "CP" of Colecciones Privadas de Arte Contemporáneo, which guarantees authenticity, quality and the limited number of copies, as well as the artisanal process followed for its creation and printing.
Irregular edges.
Good condition, with slight yellowing of the paper due to the age of the engraving.
His work can be framed between critical realism and an aesthetic close to Pop Art, which runs throughout his career. He loses the American component of this movement in favor of a castizo and popular character. Madrid of neighborhood shops and shop windows, of houses and façades. In the everyday he finds his inspiration.
One of his characteristics is composition based on several elements that form a whole. His compositions typically feature flat colors and shapes that seem to float, creating "visual puzzles" of great vitality and harmony.
His approach often includes a subtle irony about the domestic and social reality of Spain at the end of the dictatorship and during the transition.
He uses a wide variety of supports and techniques ranging from posters, collage and even embroidery.
Edition signed, dated and justified by the author in pencil.
It was purchased at a public auction in Madrid, from the holdings of an Art Gallery.
It will be shipped securely packaged.
