Description from the seller
LA GRAN ESCALERA is a 70x100 cm painting by contemporary artist Ernest García. It is an architectural and luminous work where the interior space becomes the absolute protagonist. The painting represents a large courtyard or colonial house bathed in warm, Mediterranean light, where a blue-green staircase guides the gaze toward the top of the composition, creating depth and movement.
The scene combines Caribbean and Mediterranean references through saturated colors and strong contrasts: solar yellows, bright reds, fresh blues, and tropical greens dialogue with each other, building a vibrant and welcoming atmosphere. Large plants, classic chairs, and architectural details evoke old haciendas or mansions where time seems to pass slowly between shadow and light.
The composition has a distinctly cinematic and decorative character, using wide perspectives and flat color zones that recall both fauvism and modernist illustration. The colored shadows on the floor provide visual rhythm and transform everyday spaces into almost theatrical settings.
More than an architectural representation, “La Gran Escalera” conveys the emotional feeling of an open home, full of memory, vegetation, and summer. The work celebrates the beauty of warm southern interiors, where architecture and color build a refuge full of life and contemplation.
