Important bronze patinated perfume burner, Japanese, Meiji era, late 19th century

Large bronze patinated perfume burner with brun-noir patina, composed of several assembled elements, resting on a substantial circular pedestal. The body features broad reliefs depicting birds, fish, and aquatic vegetation in stylized landscapes. The side handles, removable and fully pierced, depict flowering branches sculpted in high relief, bearing witness to remarkable casting and chasing virtuosity.
