Giuseppe Santomaso (Venice, September 26, 1907 – Venice, May 23, 1990) was an Italian painter.

Together with Emilio Vedova he was a representative of Abstract art in both its Lyrical and Expressionist forms.

Since then he has participated almost continuously in the Venice Biennale (in 1950, 1952, 1954, 1956, 1962, 1964, 1972, 1986 and 1988).

At the XXVI Biennale of 1952, he took part in the experience of the Gruppo degli Otto (with Afro, Birolli, Corpora, Moreni, Morlotti, Turcato, Vedova) the abstract-concretes, as Lionello Venturi defined them: painters engaged in transforming from within the tradition of figurative painting, highlighting the necessity of abstraction, understood as a process without predefined limits.
