- Frederic Lloveras i Herrera was a Catalan painter, illustrator and watercolorist, considered one of the best representatives of postwar Catalan watercolor, and nicknamed the "prince of watercolor." He studied at the Cercle Artístic de Sant Lluc and at the Escola de Belles Arts de Sant Jordi. Although he initially practiced oil painting, it was during the Spanish Civil War when he focused on drawing and watercolor, a technique in which he would stand out for his great sensitivity, technical precision and chromatic freshness. Stylistically, he is linked to Catalan post-impressionism, capturing with his precise brushstrokes the light, gesture and emotion of urban landscapes and human figures. Lloveras was a tireless traveler, painting European cities such as Paris, London and Venice, and he collaborated as an illustrator on several works, including a Romancero Gitano and the volume Barcelona with texts by Camilo José Cela.
