Description from the seller
Antique Japanese Tsuka (Sword Hilt) - Samurai Warrior Motif Fuchi-Kashira & Menuki - Shakudo Nanako-ji - Edo Period
Description
Welcome to "LastPiece-TimeTravel-Japan". We are proud to present an exquisite antique Japanese Tsuka (sword hilt) from the Edo period, featuring stunning metalwork.
[Design & Craftsmanship]
This complete Tsuka is a remarkable example of Samurai aesthetics. The metal fittings, specifically the Fuchi-Kashira (pommel and collar) and the Menuki (handle ornaments), are masterfully crafted from Shakudo (a traditional Japanese alloy of copper and gold, prized for its dark patina) with a refined Nanako-ji (fish-roe pattern) ground.
The highlight of this piece is the striking high-relief (Takabori) depiction of Samurai warriors in battle, beautifully accented with gold and silver gilding (Iroe).
[Condition]
Overall in good antique condition with an authentic patina. There are traces of age, wear, and minor fading to the gilding, which is typical for an authentic Edo period item that was actually mounted and used. Please examine the detailed photos carefully to appreciate the intricate metalwork and the overall condition.
