The rollerball is presented in a magnificent overall condition, evidencing exceptionally careful prior use and excellent maintenance, ideal for daily use as well as for integrating high-end collections of the most exclusive limited editions of the Italian manufacturing.
The body and cap are made in the famous blue veined precious resin of Montegrappa, maintaining an impeccable, clean structure with no cracks, fissures, bites, or deformations of any kind. When backlit, only subtle and fine surface marks of handling (hairlines) derived from honest storage and use are visible, preserving an exceptional mirror shine that contrasts sublimely with the metallic sleeve.
The details and the intricate cut-out filigree in solid 925 sterling silver (the continent map of the body, the meridians, the clip, and the top crown) are pristine and in magnificent condition, showing a clean patina and no losses or wear in the reliefs of the chiseling. The clip with its legendary rotating sphere maintains its original firm and perfect tension, and the Montegrappa mark reads with absolute clarity.
On the flat bottom base of the piece, there is a deep and perfect engraving of the prestigious serial number 054 / 266, formally certifying that this is the coveted number 54 of a strictly limited micro-run worldwide of only 266 units in rollerball form. Just underneath, the official Italian goldsmithing stamps shine impeccably: the 925 purity seal and the official diamond-shaped stamp ★ 1055 VI identifying the historic registry of the Montegrappa workshop in the province of Vicenza.
The writing section is the great jewel of the piece in its category: it appears visually flawless, clean, and crowned by a superb stylized solid silver cone in perfect condition, promising writing of extraordinary softness and fluency, characteristic of the engineering of the Bassano del Grappa firm.
The screw-cap closure mechanism turns completely smoothly, firmly, and fluently, offering the appropriate resistance that ensures the set closes with total precision and hermeticity. It should be noted that the piece is presented as a complete collectible set, accompanied by its luxury blue lacquered case, original limited edition documentation, and original company cloth.
Overall, this is an extraordinary specimen from one of the most iconic themed limited series in the world, distinguished by its superb craftsmanship in sterling silver and an extremely low run of only 266 pieces, optimally preserved and ready to be used or displayed in a cabinet.
Conservation recommendations
To preserve the optimal function of this high-end piece, it is recommended to use exclusively original Montegrappa rollerball refills or high-quality compatible ones. As it is coated in 925 sterling silver, it is natural that over time the metal may show slight oxidation due to contact with air; periodic cleaning by gently rubbing with the silver-specific cloth included in the case is advised, avoiding abrasive chemical products. If the piece will not be used for an extended period, it is recommended to remove the ink cartridge and store it in its case protected from direct sunlight and extreme humidity.
