AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Lee Morgan – Introducing Lee Morgan

A beautiful 1961 US mono reissue of Introducing Lee Morgan on Savoy Records (MG 12091), featuring the maroon labels. The deadwax features the desirable hand-etched RVG. Originally recorded in 1956 at Rudy Van Gelder’s studio in Hackensack, this is an outstanding early hard bop session and one of the first albums to showcase the young Lee Morgan as a leader.

Morgan is joined by an exceptional quintet featuring Hank Mobley on tenor saxophone, Hank Jones on piano, Doug Watkins on bass and Art Taylor on drums. The album captures Morgan at an early stage of his career, already displaying the powerful trumpet sound that would make him one of the greats of hard bop.

Condition: Cover NM, exceptionally well preserved and presenting beautifully. Vinyl EX, with a few faint superficial sleeve-removal scuffs and hairlines. The vinyl is somewhat foggy along part of the rim, possibly a pressing artifact, but this has no effect on play.

A fantastic collector’s copy of this sought-after Savoy hard bop classic.
